Regularization of QED by a generalized ’t Hooft and Veltman method

چکیده
Generalizing the ’t Hooft and Veltman method of unitary regulators, we demonstrate for the first time the existence of local, Lorentz-invariant, physically motivated Lagrangians of quantum-electrodynamic phenomena such that: (i) Feynman diagrams are finite and equal the diagrams of QED but with regularized propagators. (ii) N-point Green functions are causal. (iii) Smatrix relates only electrons, positrons and photons, is unitary and Lorentzinvariant, and conserves charge and total four-momentum.

Realistic regularization of the QED Green functions
Generalizing the ’t Hooft and Veltman method of unitary regulators, we demonstrate for the first time the existence of local, Lorentz-invariant, physically motivated Lagrangians of quantum-electrodynamic phenomena such that: (i) Feynman diagrams are finite and equal the diagrams of QED but with regularized propagators. (ii) N-point Green functions are C-, P-, and Tinvariant up to a phase factor...
متن کاملOn a New Elementary Particle from the Disintegration of the Symplectic ‘t Hooft-Veltman-Wilson Fractal Spacetime
‘t Hooft-Veltman Wilson dimensional regularization depends crucially upon Borel summability which entails strong links to the modern mathematical theory of transfinite sets and consequently to the fractal-Cantorian spacetime proposal of Ord-Nottale-El Naschie. Starting from the above, we interpret the main step of the mathematical analysis in terms of elementary particles interaction. Thus ‘t H...
متن کاملAxial Current in Qed and Semi - Naive Dimensional Renormalization
We renormalize at two loops the axial current and F ˜ F in mass-less QED, using the recently proposed semi-naive dimensional renormalization scheme. We show that the results are in agreement with those in the Breitenlohner-Maison-'t Hooft-Veltman scheme, previously obtained indirectly by making a three-loop computation.
متن کاملDipole formalism with heavy fermions
We extend the dipole formalism of Catani and Seymour to QCD processes involving heavy fermions. We give the appropriate subtraction terms together with their integrated counterpart. All calculations are done within dimensional regularization. Our formulae can be used with three variants of dimensional regularization (conventional dimensional regularization, the ’t Hooft-Veltman scheme or the fo...
متن کاملSubtraction terms for one-loop amplitudes with one unresolved parton
Fully differential next-to-next-to-leading order calculations require a method to cancel infrared singularities. In a previous publication, I discussed the general setup for the subtraction method at NNLO. In this paper I give all subtraction terms for electron-positron annihilation associated with one-loop amplitudes with one unresolved parton. These subtraction terms are integrated within dim...
